Principal’s message
And so with the last step of the race, we cross the finishing line – and what a race this year has been! Yet as I write to you today, I have had the sound of three cheers and joyous laughter and clapping filtering through the open windows from primary school all morning, and the most amazing concert in the courtyard throughout senior lunchtime, which at times included audience members as young as Nursery! That’s the way to end a year, and particularly this one. Remembering what there is to cheer; living, singing and smiling together, and looking forward to the summer holidays. It has been a very different year, and it will be a very different summer, but as Dr Seuss says,
‘Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.’
So with a mountain of books to read, a family to hug, a bit of Shakespeare and tennis to watch (and somebody said something about football, I think…) can I thank everyone in this extraordinary community for everything that you have done, said and been this year. We will never forget it, and this may be the time for a recharge, but we will be back, and we will keep looking ahead with aspirant hearts and minds.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer!
Exit Mrs Woodroofe, pursued by the most fabulous GSAL music to end this year of all years.
Sue Woodroofe
