March 2, 2022 @ 10:30 - 11:15
Event Navigation
GSAL is hosting a live virtual maths workshop for primary schools on Wed 2 March, 10:30 – 11:15. The workshop is suitable for pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 .
The Unexpected Maths of Juggling maths show is presented by Cambridge University mathematician Colin Wright. Colin’s show will help bring to life various aspects of the primary maths curriculum through juggling!
Class teachers can access the event, which will be broadcast live from the Lawson Library at GSAL, via Zoom from their classrooms. Teachers can also circulate the link to parents and children learning online at home. Pupils will just need a piece of paper and a pencil to join in.
We think maths is about numbers and shapes, but there’s a lot more. It’s how we think, and how we can find unexpected patterns and connections that let us predict what might be possible. In this show we look at juggling, something that might be thought of as having nothing to do with maths but by using mathematical thinking we can find how to create patterns, and then see if they really can be juggled.
The workshop which is free to attend will run for approximately 45 minutes and will include some time for questions. The workshop will be recorded and shared via the GSAL Presents web page on the GSAL website afterwards. If your school would like to attend please contact, Anna White, anna.white@gsal.org.uk
