Professor Mark Bailey, who served as Head of GSAL until April 2010, has been appointed to the position of High Master of St. Pauls’ School in London from 1 September 2011.
St Paul’s is one of the very best schools in the country, and it is about to embark upon a major building project. Given Professor Bailey’s outstanding service at GSAL, including leading the extension of the facilities and buildings between 2006 and 2008, he was identified as being very well equipped to lead St Paul’s.
He will continue to have links with the University of East Anglia, where he serve as Professor Late Medieval History until next summer, and then will be become a Visiting Professor. St Paul’s are very keen for their High Master to have strong university links.
‘Leading St Paul’s is a huge honour and privilege, and my experience at GSAL should help enormously in meeting the challenges there.’
We wish him every success.
