Hollie, a year 8 pupil at The Grammar School at Leeds, broke the English Schools record for 200 metre freestyle last weekend at the Inter Divisional English Schools Swimming Championships.
It was a highly successful weekend for Hollie breaking the seven year record in 2:07.28, winning two further individual gold medals in the 100 metre freestyle and 100 metre butterfly and a gold and a silver in two relays too.
Hollie represented the North East region, who also won the overall team event at the national competition, which was held in Coventry.
Alexandra Mehta, GSAL’s swim coach said, “We are so proud of Hollie. This is an incredible achievement in a very busy week for the GSAL swim team with Hollie swimming in three competitions.”
GSAL swimming success goes from strength to strength. The GSAL girls’ team won a national schools competition at Whitgift School for the first time since 2014 and the boys’ team came second. The GSAL swimmers boys’ and girls’ teams also performed well at a competition at the London Aquatics Centre this week.
