What to expect

An enjoyable and varied learning experience

We understand high-quality early years education has a positive impact on future success.

At our educational nursery at Alwoodley Gates, north Leeds, we provide 3 and 4 year-olds with an enjoyable and varied learning experience that nurture curiosity, independence and the ability to collaborate with others. All vital elements for later achievement.

Our dynamic, play-based approach ensures children develop the fundamental skills and knowledge that will help them move seamlessly to reception.

The start of the day is flexible. Parents can drop off between 8.30am and 8.50am.

GSAL Owls, our high quality wraparound care, is available from 7.45am to 6.00pm. In the morning, children can be dropped off in their classrooms from 7.45am for free. Afterschool care is provided at an additional cost.

Our school day follows a gentle rhythm. There are structured activities in the morning to help promote literacy, numeracy and creative thinking, followed by an afternoon of child-initiated learning, with opportunities to play in the outdoor classrooms.

Our creative and caring teachers excel in helping children pursue their passions, cultivate their imaginations, and develop new skills. Our excellent staff to child ratio ensures all children are valued and known. Parents’ contributions are welcomed, as we work in partnership with families to provide each child with the very best start.

Lunchtime takes place in our dedicated Nursery – Year 2 dining room where children enjoy healthy food together and develop their burgeoning table manners.

Our nursery children love being part of the wider primary school community. By taking part in celebrations and other school activities, they build a confidence which they carry with them into the reception year.

We’d love to show you and your child our nursery school in action. Come and visit us.
