School rugby – then and now

Wednesday 13 May 2020

With no live sport taking place, sports fans everywhere are turning to the archives to relive the glory days of their favourite teams and GSAL is no exception! We hope you’ll enjoy this film in which our alumni, students and staff share their thoughts on school rugby – then and now.

Leeds Grammar School was one of the first schools in the north to play rugby in the late 1800s. Since its introduction, rugby has been the main boys’ sport which has gone from strength to strength thanks to the passion of staff, students and parents.

This season the first XV reached the semi-final of the NatWest Plate, the best run in a national competition since finishing as runners-up in the Champions Trophy in 2015.
