As well as engaging enthusiastically with co-curricular activities in school, there are many opportunities for our students to venture further afield as they progress through the school.
Our outdoor learning programme provides students with opportunities to take on new challenges beyond the school gates and in our own extensive grounds. In Years 7 and 9 each form group spends three days together trying out activities such as abseiling, kayaking, high and low ropes course, orienteering, mountain biking and raft building. Learning these new skills alongside their classmates has the added benefit of team building, developing self-confidence and the sense of achievement that comes from having a go at something new.
Our modern languages department offers visits and exchanges to destinations including the Rhineland area of Germany, Vitoria in the Basque country and Solesmes in France, while history students visit the battlefields of northern France.
Recent sports tours have included Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Portugal, and the school runs a ski trip to a European destination each year. The Senior School choir tours regularly, and most recently visited the Czech Republic.
We also manage an extensive programme of visiting speakers and workshops to inspire learning and enable our students to extend their knowledge far beyond the curriculum.
