These five Ilkley youngsters had the chance to meet poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy after her sell-out show for children at Ilkley Literature Festival.
The Princess’ Blankets, her tale about a princess who can’t get warm, was a magical mix of poetry, music and fairytale with musician John Sampson. The event at Ilkley Playhouse was sponsored by The Grammar School at Leeds.
Emily Boggs, a Year 7 pupil at GSAL, said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was very funny and I particularly loved the way the music was worked in with the story.”
Earlier in the week Y6 pupils from Westville House School enjoyed a Carol Ann Duffy poetry workshop at GSAL.
