Brief synopsis of workshop:
Writing is immensely challenging – it is a synthesis of knowledge from multiple domains and the application of skill which must be honed over time. This session will explore some key principles for teaching writing well over time, including practical strategies in the classroom.
What you will get out of it:
Theoretical knowledge of what constitutes effective writing, and a range of practical strategies for the classroom and the curriculum which can be used immediately.
Profile of facilitator:
Jennifer Webb is an English Teacher, Assistant Principal and Research Lead at Trinity Academy Cathedral in Wakefield. She is an education author, blogger and speaker with interests in cognitive science, literacy, disadvantage and EDI. Jennifer curates ‘The Reading List Project’ and hosts an extensive CPD program for teachers and leaders; both of which are accessible through her website. She is privileged to act as a Trustee for the Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project. Jennifer has written a number of best-selling books for teachers, including ‘The Metacognition Handbook’ (JohnCatt, 2021). ‘Essential Grammar’, co-authored with Marcello Giovanelli will be available via Routledge in Summer 2023.
