In this session we will explore the use of Role Models in inclusive LGBTQ+ education as tools to imbed empathy and educate young people and adults. Powerful examples of Role Model stories will be previewed and discussed. DRM’s Role Model videos and resources will be showcased (these are free resources that all can access). The session will discuss the importance of usualising and actualising LGBTQ+ identities and explore practical ways to do this in your setting.  The current DfE funded project ‘Embracing Difference, Ending Bullying’ will also be discussed, as well as details given on how educational settings (primary, secondary and FE) can gain access to this funded training and pupil workshops, as well as all the other fantastic things DRM has to offer schools.

What you will get out of it:

Practical ways to bring Role Model stories into the classroom, as well as how to usualise and actualize LGBTQ+ identities. Delegates will also be given an overview of the DfE funded project, ‘Embracing Difference, Ending Bullying’ staff training and the content of the DRM’s workshops and how to get involved with DRM’s work.
