Brief synopsis of workshop:

Leigh will outline a response to the heightened agenda of Climate Change Education (CCE) with a particular focus on curricula, pedagogy and practice. She will also consider how teachers can consider what they do to support meaningful links with their teaching across primary and secondary subjects in order to balance meaningful implementation and the urgent need for action.

Profile of facilitator:

Prof Leigh Hoath is head of science education at Leeds Trinity University and is the co-founder of an alliance leading curriculum development concerning climate change education (CAPE). She is Chair-Elect of the Association for Science Education (ASE) as well as being a regular contributor to their conferences and publications. She is an author of science books across the primary and secondary age phases as well as the outreach and engagement consultant to the world’s largest chemical company (BASF). Leigh is also a consultant to BBC Teach where she developed the Blue Planet Live teacher resources and live lesson and most recently created the content for their climate and sustainability focussed campaign ‘The Regenerators’. Despite all these aspects of her work Leigh is most comfortable in the classroom with students and remains at heart a teacher.
