Brief synopsis of workshop:

In order to develop capital, learners need to be able to see themselves in the curriculum. Building on the ‘giants’ of science history this session will explore the notion of science capital, how learners can begin to ‘see science for me’ and challenge the stereotypes presented through the curriculum. Although science focused the underpinning framework is applicable to all subject areas.

The session will explore the developments of scientific history and how this can be used to draw upon contemporary and marginalised scientists and examples of their work in order to position learning as a reflection of the children we teach.

What you will get out of it:

A thought provoking session which will allow delegates to critically engage with the examples commonly used in the curriculum.
