Jenny Webb

Name of Workshop

Metacognitive feedback

Who is it for

All teachers – primary, secondary and P16 across all subjects

Brief synopsis of workshop:

Metacognition is ‘high impact for very low cost, based on extensive evidence’ (EEF Toolkit). But to teach metacognitively has nothing to do with worksheets, exit tickets or tick-boxes. This workshop will explore the ways in which metacognitive questioning and a foundational understanding of cognitive science can frame teaching practice, with a focus on giving meaningful feedback.

What you will get out of it:

Practical, no-fuss, evidence informed strategies which they can implement on Monday.

Profile of facilitator:

Jennifer Webb is an English Teacher, Assistant Principal and Research Lead at Trinity Academy Cathedral in Wakefield. She is an education author, blogger and speaker with interests in cognitive science, literacy, disadvantage and EDI. Jennifer curates ‘The Reading List Project,’ the ‘Amplify’ blog, hosts a regular online CPD program and is privileged to act as chair of Trustees for the Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project.
