Twelve students from the Grammar school at Leeds (GSAL) are celebrating university offers from Oxford or Cambridge for 2013 admission.

Six boys and five girls have received conditional offers, with a further offer of a place for a student from last year’s Upper Sixth making it a dozen.

Offers for Cambridge are held by: Philip Boyle-Smith at Trinity College to read mathematics; Leonora Cherry at Magdalene to read Human, Social and Political Science; Jack McNichol at Girton to read English literature; Flo O’Conor at Gonville and Caius to read engineering; James Roberts at Pembroke to read English and Christopher Wilkinson at Queens’ College to read law.

Oxford offers are held by: Elizabeth Chittenden at Christ Church to read history; Reuben Ackerman at Brasenose, also to read history; Tom Emerton at University College to read PPE; Isabel Kempner at Oriel to read French and philosophy; and Beth Tapsfield at Keble to read biomedical science. Daniel Christen, who left GSAL after taking his A levels last summer, has secured a place at Oriel College to read PPE.

Christine Jagger, Head of Student Development at GSAL said: “We are delighted for the students. They have worked hard throughout their school career and are a real credit to themselves. The selection process is very demanding, so we are very proud of their success.”
