Swimmer and Olympic hopeful Sophie Taylor (GSAL13) is to represent England in this summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Her inclusion in the Games is all down to her incredible record-breaking efforts at the recent British Championships where she achieved victory in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, the first time such a feat has been achieved since 2007.

On the way to her three golds Sophie broke her own British 100m breaststroke record, the English 200m breaststroke record and the 50m breaststroke record for the 18s age group.

The Harrogate-born swimmer, who trains with the City of Leeds Swimming Club, has also been confirmed as one of six Leeds baton bearers for the Queen’s baton relay leading up to Glasgow 2014.

After her selection for the Games was confirmed, Sophie said: “I couldn’t be happier to be representing England in the Commonwealth Games this summer.

“It’s still so surreal that I’ve managed to achieve this, and to be one of the top ranked qualifiers, at such a young age. It is just amazing.”
